1. Information We Process

The information we process depends on how you use TswanaPlay. You may be able to use certain TswanaPlay features without creating an account.

Guest play

When playing as a guest, we may process information such as:

• Your chosen player or display name.
• An anonymous guest identifier.
• Private room or game codes.
• Game and matchmaking information.
• Connection status.
• Information necessary to maintain your current session.

You should avoid including personal or sensitive information in your display name.

Registered accounts

Some features, including tournaments or other competitive features, may require an account. If you create an account, we may process information such as:

• Your email address.
• Username or display name.
• Account identifier.
• Authentication information.
• Tournament registrations.
• Match results.
• Leaderboard or tournament standings.
• Other information associated with features you choose to use.

Passwords, where applicable, are handled through our authentication infrastructure and are not intended to be directly accessible to TswanaPlay.

Information you send us

If you contact TswanaPlay, we may receive information such as your name, email address and the contents of your message. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for us to assist you.

Technical information

When you access TswanaPlay, certain technical information may automatically be processed by TswanaPlay or the services used to operate it. This may include:

• IP address.
• Browser type and version.
• Device type and operating system.
• Approximate location derived from an IP address.
• Pages or features accessed.
• Dates and times of access.
• Connection information.
• Error reports and diagnostic information.
• Security or abuse-prevention information.

This information may be used to operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve TswanaPlay. Players do not need to connect directly to one another. Technical information such as your IP address is not intentionally displayed to opponents.

2. Game Information

When you play a game on TswanaPlay, we may process information necessary for the match to function, including:

• Player identifiers.
• Room or match identifiers.
• Board state.
• Turns, moves and captures.
• Match status.
• Matchmaking information.
• Connection status.
• Match results.

Game information may be temporary or may be retained where necessary to operate features such as accounts, tournaments, rankings, leaderboards, moderation or service reliability.

Guest matches are designed to use temporary game information wherever reasonably possible.

3. Match Chat

Where match chat is available, messages may be transmitted through TswanaPlay's infrastructure so they can be delivered to the other player.

TswanaPlay does not intend to use private match conversations for advertising or profiling. Chat may be temporarily processed as necessary for delivery, security or abuse prevention.

Users should not send passwords, financial information, addresses or other sensitive information through match chat.

4. Tournaments and Broadcasts

If you participate in a TswanaPlay tournament or competitive event, we may process information required to organise and administer the event. This may include:

• Your account or player name.
• Registration information.
• Tournament eligibility or status.
• Opponents and match results.
• Qualification status.
• Tournament bracket position.
• Leaderboard position.
• Disqualification or moderation information where applicable.

Certain tournament information, such as player names, brackets, standings and match results, may be visible to other users.

Certain tournament or selected matches may be spectated, livestreamed, recorded or broadcast by TswanaPlay, authorised broadcasters, event partners or content creators. If you participate in such a match, information visible within the game interface - such as your username, player name, match result or tournament position - may also appear in the broadcast or recording.

TswanaPlay does not intend to expose private account information such as your email address through match broadcasts.

5. How We Use Information

We may process information to:

• Provide and operate TswanaPlay.
• Create and maintain game sessions.
• Match players together and operate private rooms.
• Authenticate registered users.
• Operate tournaments and leaderboards.
• Maintain game state and provide multiplayer functionality.
• Detect cheating, abuse, fraud and automated attacks.
• Protect the security of the platform.
• Troubleshoot errors and monitor reliability and performance.
• Improve TswanaPlay.
• Respond to support or feedback.
• Enforce our Terms of Use.

TswanaPlay does not sell your personal information.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

TswanaPlay may use cookies, browser local storage and similar technologies where necessary to operate the platform. These technologies may be used to:

• Maintain guest sessions.
• Keep you signed in.
• Maintain active game sessions.
• Remember basic preferences.
• Provide security protections.

Necessary storage supports guest and account authentication, active sessions and matches, security, basic preferences, and the consent record itself. It remains active because these features cannot work reliably without it. Optional analytics and advertising storage remain off unless you choose them and the relevant service is present. You can change your choice at any time through Cookie settings in the footer. Third-party services may also use similar technologies according to their own policies.

7. Analytics and Monitoring

TswanaPlay may use analytics or monitoring tools to understand how the platform is used and to identify technical problems. These services may process information such as:

• Pages visited.
• General device information.
• Approximate geographic information.
• Session activity.
• Performance information.
• Error reports.

TswanaPlay does not currently initialize optional analytics storage. If analytics is introduced, it will only be enabled with the relevant consent where required, and this policy will identify the service in use.

8. Advertising and Sponsorships

TswanaPlay may display advertising, sponsorships or promotional content. Advertising-related storage is optional and is not initialized by TswanaPlay before the relevant consent choice. If Google AdSense is enabled, Google's applicable consent-management requirements must also be configured. Advertising providers may use technologies such as cookies or device identifiers and may process information including:

• IP address.
• Browser information.
• Device information.
• Approximate location.
• Advertising or cookie identifiers.

Where required by applicable law or advertising-provider requirements, appropriate notices or consent choices may be provided.

Sponsors may also have branding displayed within TswanaPlay or during tournaments. TswanaPlay does not provide sponsors with your private account information simply because they sponsor an event or appear on the platform.

9. Third-Party Service Providers

TswanaPlay relies on third-party services to operate. These may provide services such as:

• Web hosting.
• Database infrastructure.
• User authentication.
• Real-time multiplayer connectivity.
• Analytics.
• Security.
• Error monitoring.
• Advertising.

These providers may process information where necessary to provide their services. Their handling of information may also be governed by their respective privacy policies and contractual obligations.

10. Data Retention

TswanaPlay aims to retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

• Temporary guest-game information may be removed after matches finish, expire or are abandoned.
• Account information may be retained while an account remains active and for a reasonable period afterwards where necessary for security, legal, administrative or technical purposes.
• Tournament results, rankings or records may be retained for longer where necessary to preserve tournament history or platform integrity.
• Technical logs, security records and diagnostic information may also be retained for a limited period where needed for security, troubleshooting and abuse prevention.

Different categories of information may therefore have different retention periods.

11. Account Deletion

Where registered accounts are available, users may be provided with a way to request or initiate deletion of their account. Deleting an account may result in the removal or anonymisation of associated personal information, subject to information that we reasonably need to retain for:

• Security.
• Fraud prevention.
• Dispute resolution.
• Legal obligations.
• Legitimate records of completed tournaments or matches.

12. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect information processed through TswanaPlay. However, no internet service can guarantee complete security.

Users should protect their account credentials and should keep private-room codes confidential where they do not want other users joining a match.

13. Children's Privacy

TswanaPlay is intended as a general-audience gaming platform. We do not intentionally request unnecessary personal information from children.

Users, particularly younger players, should avoid putting information such as their full name, address, school, phone number or other sensitive personal information in usernames, display names or chats.

If we become aware that personal information belonging to a child has been collected inappropriately, we may take reasonable steps to delete or restrict that information.

14. International Processing

Some of the infrastructure and service providers used by TswanaPlay may operate outside Botswana. This means information may be processed or stored in other countries.

Where appropriate, we take reasonable steps to use services that provide suitable protections for information processed on our behalf.

15. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on applicable law and the information TswanaPlay holds about you, you may be able to request:

• Access to personal information associated with you.
• Correction of inaccurate information.

Because guest play is intentionally designed to minimise identification, we may not always be able to connect anonymous technical information to a specific person. We may need information from you to verify that a request relates to you before acting on it.

TswanaPlay will continue to develop, and this Privacy Policy may be updated when our features, technology providers or data practices change. When the policy is updated, the Last updated date at the top of this page will also be changed.
